Hi, I’m Casey, the reader behind the retreat. I’ve always been a sucker for love stories, but I crave them wrapped in fantasy, magic, and new worlds to explore. The real world can be draining, and for me, nothing compares to the feeling of being swept away into an epic romantasy adventure. Like many of us, my journey began with ACOTAR, which quickly spiraled into Throne of Glass and Crescent City. Now? I’m completely obsessed with the Empyrean series (and yes, I’ll never stop swooning over Xaden). I also adore the From Blood and Ash series—together, these three worlds are the ones I return to again and again.

If there’s one thing you should know about me as a romantasy reader, it’s this: I want the romance front and center. I’ll enjoy a more fantasy-heavy book, but the ones I truly fall in love with are love stories first—set against fantastical backdrops. A tagline I’ve always used for myself is: I’m Hallmark, not Lifetime.

Why I Created Romantasy Retreat

I started this blog because I love talking about romantasy books—but my friends and family aren’t always caught up, and I know that frustration of wanting to gush about a series no one else has read yet. I also found myself constantly searching for things like reading orders, what to read next guides, or recommendations for the best series to dive into.

So I built Romantasy Retreat as a one-stop shop for all things romantasy. My hope is that this becomes your retreat too—a place you can escape to when you need peace from the world and want to fall into stories of love and magic.

The Reader Behind the Retreat

Outside the blog, I’m a busy wife and mom of two, and reading has always been my slice of peace. My favorite thing is curling up in my room with a book late at night, promising myself “just one more chapter” until suddenly it’s 3am. I often put on YouTube ambiance videos made for the book I’m reading to make the experience even more immersive (seriously—try it if you haven’t).
